St. Thomas the Apostle Chaldean Diocese held a training session with Professional Standers Office for all the volunteers of the Chaldean churches

Under the patronage and encouragement of His Grace Archbishop Amel Nona and the great collaboration of the Professional Standers Office, St. Thomas the Apostle Chaldean Diocese has held a training session (Safe People, Safe Places, Safe Practices- children Protection 101) for all the volunteers of the Catholic Chaldean Churches in Sydney whom work with children in our churches activities groups (catechism, Holy communion, Urhai Chaldean Language school and liturgy service).

The Training was held last Saturday 6th April 2019 at the Hall of St. Thomas the Apostle Chaldean Cathedral, and had a full program that started from 12:30pm with a starting prayer and welcoming speech by His Grace Archbishop Amel Nona who welcomed all the attendees and thanking  the two speakers (Jacqueline Highfield, a director from Professional Standers Office NSW/ACT, and Rob Bates, a director from Australian Catholic Center for Professional Standers ACCPS) for coming all the way to to build stronger awareness of the importance of protecting our people in our institutions. His Grace also emphasized on how the church is continually making many progresses and working hard in the field of “protection of miners” especially  after the finale report of Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and and how our Chaldean Catholic Diocese is working through this event to have better awareness about how to create a save and healthy atmosphere and environment for all our people, particularly for miners, to feel and be save practicing their faith in our Churches. Additionally, after the speech of His Grace, the program commenced with two presentations by the Professional standers speakers about (Safeguarding)  focusing on three steps: Responding to any address concerning or disclosure, Report what was happened, and to Refer the case to the authority person ASAP, highlighting the importance of remembering that the safety and well-being of others is always our first priority, as well as lunch meal to all provided by St. Thomas Diocese.
