On Saturday 8/7/2017 our teachers and helpers from all three groups, First Holy Communion, Catechism classes and Urhai School for Chaldean language from across our Sydney parishes, had attended a spiritual retreat in Mt Schoenstatt Spirituality Centre in Mulgoa.
The retreat focused on the practical and spiritual sides of nurturing the growth of children. It was kick-started by two guest speakers, high-school teacher, Adrianna Hermis and Sister Alham.
Adrianna focused on the importance of getting to know children and having a relationship with them. Children see and feel things differently so to be able to connect with them we must understand them.
Sister Alham’s talk reminded us that it is the Holy Spirit who guides and teaches us in all things.
The retreat also involved reflecting on the smallness of the mustard seed and the greatness of faith. It included a lunch break and followed by a walk in the park among the trees of the retreat centre praying the rosary as a group. It concluded with private prayer time at the Shrine of Our Lady.
